5-Day Daily Devotional
Identifying and Walking in God's Will
(Week of December 14, 2025)
(Week of December 14, 2025)
Day 1: The Question That Changes Everything
Reading: Acts 9:1-9
Devotional:
When Paul encountered Christ on the Damascus road, he asked two life-altering questions: "Who are You, Lord?" and "What would You have me to do?" These questions remain the foundation of Christian discipleship today. Before we can fulfill God's purpose, we must first know who Jesus is to us personally. Your answer determines how you respond to His Word, how you react to His leading, and ultimately, where you spend eternity. Take time today to honestly answer: Who is Jesus to you? Is He merely a historical figure, a good teacher, or is He your Lord and Savior? Your relationship with Him determines everything else. When you truly know Him, the question of His will becomes your heart's deepest desire.
Reflection: Write down your honest answer to "Who is Jesus to me?" and ask God to deepen your understanding of His identity.
Day 2: Understanding God's Three-Fold Will
Reading: Romans 12:1-2; Micah 6:8
Devotional:
God's will operates in three dimensions: His sovereign will (His unchangeable plan for the universe), His moral will (His revealed standards for righteous living), and His particular will (His unique plan for your individual life). Many believers struggle because they seek God's particular will while ignoring His moral will. God calls us to love mercy, do justice, and walk humbly with Him. These aren't suggestions—they're the foundation upon which God reveals your specific assignment. You cannot expect God to show you what career to pursue or whom to marry if you're unwilling to obey His clear commands to love, forgive, and live righteously. Stop asking God to bless your plans; instead, align your life with His moral will, and watch Him reveal His particular purpose for you.
Reflection: Identify one area where you've been seeking God's guidance while ignoring His clear moral commands. Commit to obedience today.
Day 3: Dispelling the Myths About God's Will
Reading: Psalm 32:8-9; Proverbs 3:5-6
Devotional:
God doesn't give roadmaps; He gives relationships. Many believers treat seeking God's will like solving a puzzle, desperately searching for hidden clues. But God isn't playing hide-and-seek with His purposes. The greatest misconception is that God hides His will from us, requiring us to find it ourselves. This contradicts the character of a loving Father. God wants you to know His will even more than you want to know it. He doesn't reveal everything at once because He desires relationship, not mere obedience. As you walk with Him daily, He unfolds His plan step by step. Stop waiting for a dramatic Damascus road experience. Instead, cultivate intimacy with God through prayer, Scripture, and obedience. His will isn't hidden—it's revealed to those who draw near.
Reflection: Are you treating God's will as a puzzle to solve or a relationship to cultivate? Spend time in His presence without asking for anything—just being with Him.
Day 4: The Prerequisites for Knowing God's Will
Reading: James 1:5-8; John 7:17
Devotional:
God's guidance is provisional—He expects certain things from us before revealing His will. First, be willing to obey before you know what He'll ask. Too often we make our plans, set them in motion, then ask God to bless our mess. God won't reveal His will to someone who isn't going to do it anyway. Second, display a spirit of meekness—be teachable. If you think you already know everything, you'll never hear God's voice. Third, be yielded to God. Are you willing to do His will regardless of the cost? Discipleship has a price: fatigue, sacrifice, and sometimes loneliness. But the valley seasons aren't punishments—they're God stretching you for your next assignment. Report for duty; don't wait to be drafted. Get moving, get in the game, and God will direct your steps as you walk.
Reflection: Honestly assess: Am I willing to obey God even if His will costs me comfort, reputation, or relationships?
Day 5: How God Reveals His Will Practically
Reading: Psalm 119:105; Proverbs 11:14
Devotional:
God reveals His will through four primary channels: miracles (occasionally), His Word (consistently), His people (frequently), and His Spirit (constantly). While dramatic interventions happen, God most often speaks through Scripture. His Word holds answers to all of life's questions—if you're confused about His will, go back to the Bible. God also speaks through godly counsel. Never discount wisdom from mature believers; your pride might cause you to ignore the very person carrying your message. The Holy Spirit within you guides you into all truth. One distinguishing mark of God's sheep is the ear—we hear His voice. Stop determining who God can speak through. If He spoke through a donkey, He can certainly speak through any willing vessel. Stay open, stay yielded, stay in His Word, and stay connected to His body. God will make His will plain.
Reflection: Which channel of God's communication have you been neglecting? Commit to engaging it this week—read Scripture daily, seek godly counsel, or listen for the Spirit's prompting.
Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for not hiding Your will from me. Help me to seek first Your kingdom and righteousness, trusting that all other things will be added. Make me willing, teachable, and yielded to Your purposes. Reveal Yourself to me through Your Word, Your people, and Your Spirit. I don't just want to know Your will—I want to do it. In Jesus' name, Amen.
